Back to School

First, nothing says "end of summer" like a picture of a baby double-fisting corn on the cob.

Today was the first day of Kindergarten for Miles.  I scrolled through (what felt like) HUNDREDS of posts by my friends that rambled on and on about the sadness of another summer ending and their babies going to school.

If I could use any word to describe today, it would be anything but sad.

It's been a long and brutal summer people.

I have felt pushed and stressed. Misplaced and trapped.  I think my boys have felt it too.

They were ready.  I was ready.

I was "counting down the days/don't even SPEAK of that half-day nonsense with me" ready.

And we've done this all before.

So this morning I congratulated us on getting our acts together long enough to even snap a few pictures.

You can compare HERE and HERE.

And as I watched my little kindergarten walk away with his oversized red backpack and his super hot dad, I couldn't help but think that maybe what I was feeling was just a tiny bit of nostalgia and sadness.

Don't worry.  I got over it.
